Aloe Blacc, real name Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III, released one of the year’s most catchiest singles. His song ‘I Need A Dollar’ gained international success and was a mainstay on many radio stations. Blacc, with only his first single, was invited to perform on Later Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan and Later...with Jools Holland. After this well earned exposure he had everybody who heard it singing the lyrics non-stop for weeks. Aloe Blacc’s first step into the world of music in the mid 90s as an MC in the hip-hop duo Emanon which also featured DJ and producer Exile. As a solo artist Blacc worked on bringing together his fusion of soul, hip-hop and R&B whilst writing and recording his 2006 self-produced debut Shine Through. In September Blacc finally released his follow-up record, ‘Good Things’.
