In many ways it is remarkable that Here and Now even sell tickets. This space jam band from the UK has its roots in the socialist movements of the 70s and at one point they only ever played free concerts. The band also came out of an interesting tradition of bands who did not write songs or rehearse. They believed that music should be spontaneous, limitless and free. They would simply stake the stage and let the music progress organically. This approach garnered the band a very loyal following and ever since they have had fans in every city they play in.
Here and Now Concert
To say that Here and Now even plays concerts would be a bit misleading. What they do is just up on stage and feed off the energy of the crowd. This is the force that guides what they play. So in many ways you are part of the Here and Now show just as much as the band themselves. You will find many tunes at a Here and Now show familiar. The band does have some things they stick to. But these are only reference points on a sonic journey that often goes on for several hours. Because of this unique situation Here and Now tickets are hard to find in many cities in the UK.
