Pete Doherty is no stranger to controversy. His antics have seen him both sacked by band mates and wound up in prison. However, he is widely recognised as one of the U.K.’s best songwriters and has achieved, despite many setbacks, a devoted fan base. Towards the end of the 1990s Doherty met Carl Barat and together they formed The Libertines. It wasn’t until 2002 when they released their debut ‘Up The Bracket’ that they quickly becamse one of Britain’s biggest bands. During the problems with The Libertines Doherty formed Babyshambles whose music quickly became popular as the hype around Doherty was at its peak.
