Founded in 1984, Primus have become a hugely successful name in the rock music world and can count Deftones, Incubus and Muse amongst many others as fans. Primus are not just another funk/alternative/rock band. Each member has in the years since they came together displayed precisely just how good they as musicians. What makes it unmistakably Primus though is Les Claypools awesome bass playing and vocals that make every single song stand out. It’s pretty difficult to put Primus into a particular musical pidgeonhole as they are a great example of a band that bridges a range of genres often resulting in a quite experimental sound. Coupled with their laidback approach and irreverent, witty lyric writing Primus are one of the most unique acts on the planet.
Primus Concert
Primus are one of those bands that provide a live show that is more of an onslaught than a performance. If you’re lucky to get a place with a good view of Les Claypools fingers you might end up forgetting where you are because of the mesmerising speed of his bass slapping. Don’t expect to be going to an average concert where the band walks on, plays for a while, thanks the crowd and then leaves the stage. Be ready for masks, costumes, weird instruments and inflatable space man. But the theatrics do not take away from the quality of the live show. This is one thing that Primus have become famous for - putting on an oddball musical routine but also one which is demonstrative of their incredible talent as a band.
Primus Tour
In 2010 original drummer Jay Lane rejoined the group and straight after they hinted at a new recording. Not long after Primus released an EP of new recordings of unreleased songs called ‘June 2010 Recording’. Now Primus tickets are finally available for their upcoming Manchester and London dates. We’ve looked around for the best tickets still available so you don’t have to miss this strange and wonderful band.
