While Rumer's background isn't especially unique for a Briton it is fairly uncommon in the music world. She was born in Pakistan in 1979. Rumer didn't discover this until later in life, and the experience has shaped her and her music. Her first album wasn't released until she was already 30 and it was praised for its depth and maturity.
